Mika and Matt have been together for almost 7 years and in that time they have faced more battles than any young couple would in a lifetime.
Matt was born with Cystic fibrosis. Two years ago he had a double lung transplant. One year ago he proposed to the love of his life, Mika. This year he was told that doctors were unsure of how much time he had left.
The couple always had dreams to travel the world together but their greatest wish was to get married.
Mika’s sister Shenai took on the role of planning the wedding. Originally intended to be a small backyard affair, she posted on social media looking for some second-hand decorations. She could not have imagined where it would lead.
Jen from Madden & Co events responded, offering her wedding planning and styling services free of charge. Not only that, but she also had dream team vendors ready and willing to donate their time to create a truly magical day for the couple.
Jen set to work on the concept and design for the event. The reception was to be held at Bistro Du Monde where Matt had proposed to Mika the year prior. Inspired by the Parisian gastronomy and the bride’s favourite movie Moulin Rouge, Jen chose a pallete of rich burgundy and golds to bring the venue to life. Mika’s favourite quote from the movie greeted guests as they arrived. Tables were adorned with stunning florals from Lauren Alice Floral Design and decadent tableware and linen from Winters Table. At the conclusion of the meal, guests indulged in an incredible creation donated by Custom Cakes by Brooke.
Jen ensured every possible detail was taken care of, from amber coloured glassware to ensuring the littlest guests felt included in the celebrations. All that was left for Mika, Matt and their families to do was to enjoy each precious moment of the celebration.
The love that Mika and Matt share is an inspiration for us all. Each of the vendors involved felt truly honoured to be able to give this special day to the young couple. They all hope that the young couple share many more beautiful days together as Mr & Mrs Anderson know that this day will be forever held close to their hearts.
